At Toner Avenue, we want every child to be safe, healthy, happy, and confident.
Through our Muse Wellbeing Curriculum, pupils learn about themselves, their relationships, and the world around them in a way that is inclusive, progressive, and age-appropriate.

We aim to:

  • Build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness

  • Promote healthy, respectful relationships

  • Support emotional wellbeing and mental health

  • Encourage understanding of diversity, equality, and British Values

  • Equip pupils to make safe, informed choices online and offline

  • Reflect the needs of our community, informed by local health and wellbeing data


How We Teach

Our PSHE and RSHE curriculum is taught in a spiral, progressive way, meaning key topics are revisited and built upon each year. Learning takes place through:

  • Class lessons and circle time

  • Cross-curricular links (Science, RE, Computing, PE)

  • Assemblies, No Outsiders lessons, Kidsafe lessons and special projects

  • Input from specialist visitors (school nurses, community officers, etc.)

  • Interactive activities like role-play and discussion

The curriculum is accessible to all pupils, including those with SEND, and is delivered in a safe, supportive environment where children can ask questions and share ideas.

We use Muse Wellbeing to support PSHE planning and delivery. Muse Wellbeing provides structured lessons, curriculum overviews and statutory mapping documents for RSHE and PSHE.


What is RSHE?

Relationships and Sex Education (RSHE) teaches children about:

  • Emotional, social, and physical development

  • Healthy, loving relationships and friendships

  • Puberty, reproduction, and personal safety

  • Online safety, digital resilience, and wellbeing

  • Respect for diversity, different families, and identities

Our curriculum is aligned with DfE statutory guidance (2025) and supports pupils to understand their bodies, their feelings, and the world around them.
