Schools of Sanctuary at Toner Avenue
Toner Avenue Primary School is proud to be working towards becoming School of Sanctuary. This means we are committed to being a safe, welcoming and inclusive school for all children and families, particularly those who may have experienced migration, displacement or seeking refuge.
Our work as a School of Sanctuary is closely linked to our Toner Avenue values, which guide everything we do:
- Caring – We foster a culture of kindness, empathy and respect, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported within our school community.
- Resilience – We help children build confidence and strength, supporting them to overcome challenges and adapt to change in a positive and nurturing environment.
- Achieving Well – We believe all children should have the opportunity to succeed. As a School of Sanctuary, we remove barriers to learning and support every child to reach their full potential.
- Tolerance & Teamwork – We celebrate diversity and encourage understanding of different cultures, languages and experiences. Children learn to work together respectfully and value each other’s differences.
- Independence – We empower pupils to develop their own voices, make positive choices and become thoughtful, responsible members of their community and the wider world.
By embedding these values into daily school life, our School of Sanctuary work helps children develop a strong sense of belonging, fairness and global citizenship. We believe that every child deserves to feel welcome and able to thrive at Toner Avenue.
