This week we invited parents from Nursery up to Year 6 to experience our reading event. Held over 4 days, we showed parents how children in every year group are taught phonics and reading. We have had such positive feedback and would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who attended and participated in our first parent event: we look forward to running others in the future.
Well done to our Stars of the Week this week!
Congratulations to our Star of the Week winners this week!
The pictures from our visit with Lucy Turner are eventually ready to view! We tried spotty dogs, mountain climbers, push ups and star jumps and it was exhausting! Well done to every single person who took part and tried their hardest. We were extremely proud of everyone!
This week the whole school has celebrated Art Week. Each year group focussed on a different art movement. We each learned about a different art style, some famous artist and create our own piece of fantastic art.

The fabulous Anne Malabar from ground works came to visit us to complete a litter pick.
First we had a discussion about how litter affect people and animals…and the world. Then we got into groups of 3/4 and everyone had a job to do. We had a bag holder, a tally keeper and a litter picker. Everyone swapped roles after 8 minutes so we all had a turn.
We only managed to get to the school car park before we saw tonnes of litter. We set to work straight away and hopefully improved the environment around our school.
Once we got back, we counted the tallies and checked who collected the most litter.
Team collected 96 pieces
Team collected 82 pieces
Team 3 collected 110 pieces
team 4 collected 41 pieces
Team 5 collected 78 pieces.
All just from our school car park!
James said he felt guilty that we’ve let our school get this way.
Piper said she felt disgusted.
Maisie felt excited because it was fun to do something nice for our school.
We hope to work with Anne again soon on our next venture! We had a great morning. She was also an expert at learning all of our names.
Today we were able to spend our attendance stars from Autumn 2!
We had so much to choose from and enjoyed spending our well earned stars. Did you know we get a star for every full week we have in school? We were able to choose prizes such as; superhero masks, rubbers, zip bracelets, cars and so much more!
We are so excited for the attendance trolley to come around next time but for now, Miss Little has to rest her feet!
Y3 had their Christmas party yesterday, it was lots of fun.

Y3 Team
The fantastic staff at the Word put on a virtual Christmas quiz for all the schools in South Tyneside. We had a brilliant time in Y3SC and our team ‘the Bouncing Baubles’ scored 27/30!
We particularly enjoyed the music round!
Merry Christmas! 🎄

Some of the Y3 children have completed their Kidsafe lessons this half term.
They know how to stay safe in any situation.
Well done!
