Today Year 4 were absolutely fantastic as they hosted a parent event to show off all of the fabulous work they’d been doing during our STEM week.
The children were brilliant and showed all of the grown ups the different things they had been doing, including our Maths logic puzzles, our Science experiments and our very exciting DT Wire Buzzer Games.

This week we invited parents from Nursery up to Year 6 to experience our reading event. Held over 4 days, we showed parents how children in every year group are taught phonics and reading. We have had such positive feedback and would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who attended and participated in our first parent event: we look forward to running others in the future.
Well done to our Stars of the Week this week!
This morning, Year 4 participated in a Guinness World Record attempt for the ‘Most Viewers of a Rolling Numbers Livestream’ in conjunction with Times Tables Rock Stars!
We joined in with the dance moves, chanted along with the tables and crossed our fingers that we would be record holders by the end…which we were!
The record was smashed, with over 5,000 viewers taking part across the country.

Year 4 have had a wonderful day visiting Durham Cathedral as part of our R.E. topic this term.
We have been learning all about the Northern Saints St Cuthbert and St Bede, and were lucky enough to get to see both of their resting places today!
We also had a great workshop with the leader, Alice, who told us the stories of St Cuthbert and Bede – we got dressed up to tell them and it was great fun!
After lunch, we explored more stories of St Cuthbert with Sarah through drama.
Year 4 were a credit to our school and impressed all the adults with their manners, enthusiasm and attitude. Well done Year 4!!!

The pictures from our visit with Lucy Turner are eventually ready to view! We tried spotty dogs, mountain climbers, push ups and star jumps and it was exhausting! Well done to every single person who took part and tried their hardest. We were extremely proud of everyone!
This week the whole school has celebrated Art Week. Each year group focussed on a different art movement. We each learned about a different art style, some famous artist and create our own piece of fantastic art.

Year 4 were very lucky this morning to have an author visit with the author of the brand new book, The Last Firefox!
Lee Newbery is a Welsh author who still lives in Wales with his husband and his very farty (oops!) pug, Buzz! He wrote The Last Firefox because he loves all things fantasy, magical, and animal-themed.
We definitely loved the sound of The Last Firefox!

Today, Year 4 were lucky enough to have a virtual workshop with the illustrator of the Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler! We got to see some of his early ideas for the Gruffalo in his sketchbook and his own collection of miniature books.
After that, Axel showed us how to make our own miniature books! They are brilliant!
