Breakfast Allergy Information

Today saw the start of our much anticipated breakfast provision at Toner Avenue Primary School. Our breakfast elves worked tirelessly to provide every child with a healthy breakfast this morning; preparing bagels for 330 children is no small task!! Our kitchen team have been extremely helpful in ensuring the bagels are stored and cooked correctly so we’d just like to have a massive shout out to those guys; you’re amazing and thank you for all of your hard work in your already busy schedule.

Below is the allergen information for the bagels we have been provided by the National School Breakfast Programme. We hope you find this useful and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Today would have seen the start of your Sat’s week and while some Year 6’s are jumping for joy that the tests are no longer going ahead, some of you will be disappointed that all your hard work will not be recognised. We all know how hard you have worked towards your goals this year. We want you to know how proud we are of every single one of you. So, today we are setting a different challenge. We want you to show off your talents, all the things that Sat’s don’t recognise. We want everyone to know the Year 6’s that we miss so much!

As our school is a member of the Jasmine Platform, we have been given free access for parents to use at home with the kids. Keeping a healthy body and mind will be really important during the current climate.

real PE at home – online learning resources

real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.

It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week) in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.

There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical well-being but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

To Our Wonderful Year 6’s

Information for Y6 Parents

Dear Parents/Carers,

As many of you will be aware, schools are due to be closing on Friday afternoon & the children will not be sitting their SATs this summer term. As children do, they have many questions that unfortunately, I just do not have the answers to at this current time.

Myself, Miss Bainbridge & Mrs Mcbarron could not be more proud of each and everyone of our Y6 children, we have been fortunate enough to spend 2 years teaching this fantastic year group and we are bursting with pride at how far they have come- not only academically but socially and emotionally, they truly have been a joy for us to teach. We hope to see you all, happy and healthy, very soon. In the meantime, school work will soon be uploaded into our Google Classroom & keep an eye on the school website for regular updates.

 

For those who have not yet received a log in for Google Classroom, please follow the following instructions:

-Go onto the school website and in the top right had corner click ‘Login’

-Usernames take the format of your child’s first name followed by the first initial of their first name (all lower case)

Example: joeb

And the universal password is: password, children will be asked to change this when they log on.

-Along the bar at the top, select the Google Classroom icon (the green image with the outline of people) and enter the following codes, dependent on whose class you are in:

(Please join your CLASS not your set)

 

Inside the Google Classroom you will start to find folders of work across the curriculum areas & children will be able to communicate with teaching staff should they have any issues.

Attendance Shop Success!

Our first ever attendance shop was a huge success! 

We were able to spend our attendance stars that we earned for each full week we were at school!  With 6 whole stars on offer, we had a range of fun and exciting items to choose from; hand puppets, slime, fancy rubbers, bouncy balls, the list was endless!

Some children made the VIP list for 100% attendance last half term, and some even made the VVIP list for 100% attendance since SEPTEMBER!  What an achievement!  

We had so much fun going to our attendance shop and we CAN NOT wait to go again!!

 

We Need Your Help!

Our new attendance mascot has been settling into life at Toner brilliantly! He has been busy in Y6 expanding his vocabulary, learning his times tables & giving the children a warm welcome into the classroom!

However, he is still nameless! The children from across the school have been busy thinking of name options & we have had a very hard time narrowing down the options, please help us decided on the final name by voting in the poll below:

Y6 Children in Need!

Here are some pictures of the children during Children in Need activities today.

It was great to see all of Y6 in their non uniform, I loved seeing all the spots and Pudsey logos!

In the pictures below the children were taking part in a Pudsey drive, where they had to compete against each other to make the first complete Pudsey. There were challenges that the children had to overcome along the way & it was great practice for fast addition and subtraction!
