Crazy for crumble!

7th November 2019arice

Today year 6 have been busy making the most delicious pear, apple & blackberry crumbles! During our Welly Walk we noticed that there were apples, pears and berries around and we wanted to try and create a recipe that could include some seasonal produce.

We have discussed and research how to ensure the healthiest recipe was created, ensuring sugar and butter were kept to a minimum while ensuring lots of fruit was included.

We have had a fantastic morning and have learnt about food hygiene and safety whist learning how to chop, peel, stir, & cook!

Many of the children have commented on how they can’t wait to try these recipes at home- we look forward to hearing about/seeing your bakes!

Y6BB Titanic clay models!

25th October 2019B Bainbridge

In DT this half term, we have made amazing models of the Titanic using clay! We spent some time in the classroom designing our models and discussing how we would use the clay and other materials to create the best model we could.

We went along to our lovely DT room and began moulding the clay to make our models – we used our designs as a start. Along the way, we had to change some parts of our designs but that was all part of the fun!

Once we completed our models and they had dried, we painted them using black, red, white and copper metallic paint for the funnels. We then inserted a circuit we had created in science so the Titanic could!

We had the best time and all of our finished models were excellent!
