Breakfast Allergy Information

14th September 2020J Little

Today saw the start of our much anticipated breakfast provision at Toner Avenue Primary School. Our breakfast elves worked tirelessly to provide every child with a healthy breakfast this morning; preparing bagels for 330 children is no small task!! Our kitchen team have been extremely helpful in ensuring the bagels are stored and cooked correctly so we’d just like to have a massive shout out to those guys; you’re amazing and thank you for all of your hard work in your already busy schedule.

Below is the allergen information for the bagels we have been provided by the National School Breakfast Programme. We hope you find this useful and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Attendance Shop Success!

28th February 2020J Little

Our first ever attendance shop was a huge success!

We were able to spend our attendance stars that we earned for each full week we were at school!  With 6 whole stars on offer, we had a range of fun and exciting items to choose from; hand puppets, slime, fancy rubbers, bouncy balls, the list was endless!

Some children made the VIP list for 100% attendance last half term, and some even made the VVIP list for 100% attendance since SEPTEMBER!  What an achievement!

We had so much fun going to our attendance shop and we CAN NOT wait to go again!!

We Need Your Help!

14th February 2020arice

Our new attendance mascot has been settling into life at Toner brilliantly! He has been busy in Y6 expanding his vocabulary, learning his times tables & giving the children a warm welcome into the classroom!

However, he is still nameless! The children from across the school have been busy thinking of name options & we have had a very hard time narrowing down the options, please help us decided on the final name by voting in the poll below:

https://www.poll-maker.com/poll2745423xDacf4fE9-80

The winning name will be announced during our attendance assembly on Monday 24th February!

Engineers in the Making!

7th February 2020J Little

This week we were extremely excited to be joined by Sally from Northumbria University who spent the morning in Y5AS.  We took part in a fantastic Maths and Science lesson.  First, we worked in groups and used Lego to create a robot.  We then honed our engineering skills to create a carriage for Monkey!  We also took part in a fun maths lesson based on authors and their books, we worked hard to solve the problems and win the books back for each author!  Take a look at the pictures from our fantastic morning.

Crafty Climate Change Y5AS

17th January 2020J Little

We had a number of very special visitors who came to help us create some fantastic Climate Change posters! We welcomed a huge number of parents (including our youngest Climate Change activist at just 3 months old!) and we discussed the importance of looking after our environment and the effect of pollution is having on our climate.

We would like to thank everyone who came to support us and take part in our lesson.

Welly Week!

25th October 2019J Little

This week we have explored our surroundings and ventured out into Monkton Community Woodland.  Our work this week has been based on our trek around the Woodland and the things we collected and found.

On our journey, we noticed there was an abundance of litter and we decided write a story based on Roald Dahl’s ‘Minpins’.  We wrote about the effects of litter on the environment and how we can tackle this issue.

Have a look at some of the Leaf Creatures we created to protect our Woodland!
