Day 1

We started our Thurston adventure on a hike from Tarn Hows to Black Crag.  We enjoyed taking in the stunning views around us and stopping for the famous Thurston flapjack!  We each took a turn to lead the group up the mountain, snapping our favourite shots en route.  The sun was shining and set the backdrop to our group photo at the top.  Back at base, we enjoyed a fun filled afternoon of jetty jumping in Coniston Water.  This soon became the most requested activity of the week.

Day 2

After the fun task of squeezing into our wetsuits, we headed to the lake for a morning of canoeing.  We played games in the middle of the lake – paddling round in circles several times – before setting our sights on the Bluebird Cafe where we enjoyed a well deserved ice cream.  on return to the shore, the children requested yet another hour of jetty jumping before a lovely warm shower.  After lunch, we challenged ourselves to climb two “really big” trees.  We worked well as a team to ensure everyone was safe and encouraged one another to push themselves as far as possible.

Day 3

Today we absolutely loved our ghyll scramble through Stickle Ghyll to a large pool where we were challenged by our lovely instructor Amy.  We were encouraged to build our trust skills when we were asked to fold our arms over our chest and fall backwards into the pool.  everyone wanted to get thoroughly soaked through so there was only one way to end our day… you guessed it… another session of jetty jumping!  After lunch in the sun and a play in the courtyard with our friends from other groups, we set out for the woods on a blind train to practice fire-lighting and roasting marshmallows.
