Day 1

We spent the morning on the lake in individual kayaks, navigating our way around and even playing some games which involved standing up and retrieving toys from the water.

After a quick shower and change we took the mini bus to Cathedral Quarry where we walked to a large cave formed by excavating slate. We pushed ourselves to walk through it in the dark, supporting each other by placing our hands on the cave wall and each other’s shoulders.

Day 2

For many of the children this was their favourite day! We travelled to a local ghyll where we scrambled up a river. This activity involved them working together to navigate rocks and waterfalls – I was so proud of them for offering to help each other!

We returned to the centre to change before taking canoes over the lake to the Bluebird Cafe for ice creams and hot chocolates.

Day 3

The morning was spent tree climbing! The children were encouraged to push themselves to go higher each time meaning they were extremely proud of themselves.

We enjoyed our packed lunch in the sunshine then headed out to climb a hill. The children took the lead map reading and we were rewarded with amazing views. Whilst at the top of the hill we played hide and seek!
