This half term, Y3OS went on a prehistoric adventure to the Great North Museum. We were all so excited to meet Dippy the Diplodocus who had stopped off in Newcastle on his tour around the country. While we were there, we spoke to some of the museum curators who told us about the size of Dippy’s tail and how he came to end up in a museum. Some of us even tried on a cast of Dippy’s skull and ROARED as loud as a dinosaur!
Dippy wasn’t the only dinosaur at the Great North Museum though, we also wandered around the ground floor where there were real-life fossils of some of the creatures that lived millions of years ago. We touched some of them, guessed what we thought they might be and thought about how they felt.
It was an excellent day out and we used our knowledge from our visit to write our own Big Book of Dinosaurs for our End Project! Take a look at some of our photos below!
