Welcome back to Toner!
Hopefully you have all (parents/carers and children) had a lovely Summer and are all rested and ready for the new academic year. We have lots of exciting learning and trips coming up in year 6 this Autumn Term.
This term we will be learning about:
- Maths
- Reading, writing and SPaG
- The Ancient Greeks in history and geography
- Evolution and inheritance in Science
- Swimming in PE
- Drawing and sketching skills in art
- Singing in complex rounds in music
- St Lucia in French
- Learning how to be a playground leader
Our up and coming trips are as follows:
- Monday 19th September – library visit
- Monday 3rd October – safety visit to the fire station
- Wednesday 9th November – computing trip to CLC
Please help your children to be as prepared as they can. Here are some of the key details:
- Homework given on a Monday and to be back on Monday.
- Spelling test and new spellings on a Monday.
- Swimming every Thursday afternoon.
- PE in the form of playground leaders on Tuesdays – please bring in kit
Also, congratulations to the following year 6 members;
- School councillors – Shayan and Lucas
- Bede captains – Daniel B and Holly
- Palmer captains – Jack W and Robbie
- Cuthbert captains – Bailey and Maddison
Finally, we have a very important meeting about end of year KS2 SATs, which all your children will be taking this year. We will share some examples of questions and papers so that you have a good understanding of the expectation by May in Year 6. This meeting will be held at 3.20 on Tuesday 20th September. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!
