In The Spotlight – Year 2

Each week we will be celebrating some fantastic pieces of work from the pupils of Toner Avenue Primary School and this week it is the turn of our Year 2 children.  

This week we have been writing about London during the 17th Century as part of our Great Fire of London topic.  We have been writing narrative and descriptive writing.  In science, we have been researching the people who developed useful materials. Judging by the weather we have had recently, we think Charles MacIntosh created a very useful product!

Well done Year 2 for producing some amazing examples of work this week.  Keep up the hard work!

I have just realised that our galleries have vanished from the menu section.  I have manged to salvage the photos from 2017 and 2018 and add them to the menu bar,  but nothing since?  How strange.

Today in DT, Y6AF began sculpting our Titanic models out of clay.  We used a range of tools to help with the shape and design of our models.  We will have to wait until they are dry before we can paint them and make them look like perfect little Titanics!

In The Spotlight – Year 5

Each week we will be celebrating some fantastic pieces of work from the pupils of Toner Avenue Primary School and this week it is the turn of our Year 5 children.  

Our topic this term is The Vikings and we have been creating some amazing, descriptive pieces of writing and some brilliant sketches in art.

We are currently reading Viking Boy by Tony Bradman which has helped to influence our writing this week.  Gunnar’s journey is long and difficult and full of danger.

In art we are using shading to create different tones and we are building up our skills before we our final portrait of a viking.

Well done Year 5 for producing some amazing examples of work this week.  Keep up the hard work!
