Last Tuesday, Year 5 visited the Winter Gardens in Sunderland to learn about the tropical rainforest. In topic, we have been learning all about Brazil and we have been very intrigued by the Amazon rainforest.

Some of our favourite parts of the day included a treasure hunt of exotic animals; seeing real life tarantulas and piranhas; getting to hold a python skin; seeing lots of graceful koi carp and taking on the tree top walk!

Lots of learning was involved; did you know there are tropical snails?

As well as learning all about the animals that live in the rainforest, we also heard about conservation of these animals to ensure they are protected.

Year 5 were exceptionally behaved and we had a fantastic day out!
