Becoming mini teachers!

22nd November 2019L Tait

In our writing lesson today we have been editing and improving our fabulous fiction writing about ‘The Matchbox Diary’. We really enjoyed having the chance to really look over our own work and be proud of what we have achieved.

One of the highlights was being able to sit on the carpet and share our improved and edited stories with someone else in the class.

Take a look at our pictures.

Fantastic fractions!

12th November 2019L Tait

Yesterday, 4LT began looking at equivalent fractions and were able to make their own fraction wall using coloured card and their understanding of the word “equivalent”.

It was very interesting seeing each child discover a new equivalent fraction and be able to explain why it was equivalent.

Check out our pictures below!

γευστικός! Greek food tasting in year 4!

1st October 2019L Tait

Last Friday, year 4 had the opportunity to taste an array of authentic Greek foods as part of our big topic question “What makes a good civilisation?” where we have been looking at Ancient Greece.

Some were a renowned success:

Down in one!

Thumbs up for Greek cuisine!

Very tasty Greek salad!

and some didn’t go down so well…

Not an olive fan!

Olives were not a hit in 4LT!

Still unsure…

Despite some sour tastes (and faces) we really enjoyed trying Greek olives, halloumi, Greek salad, pitta bread and Greek yogurt.

Anglo-Saxon masks!

10th December 2018L Tait

Miss Tait and Miss Dobbin would like to thank all who volunteered to help us create our Anglo-Saxon masks. They are looking brilliant and although it was a tad on the messy side, I think we can all agree a lot of fun was had by all!

Worth all the mess!

Democracy Morning!

18th October 2018L Tait

Written by Alesha, Lilly and Lily Mae

We visited South Shields Town Hall and were able to vote in a make-believe election for “Starry Land”. We listened to each candidate and were able to vote for whoever we felt would be the better leader.

We all voted for Sally Shoelace who ended up winning! She was definitely the best candidate as she had the best slogan and made the best promises about what she could do to look after Starry Land.

Afterwards, we were able to look around the Chambers and actually vote using the equipment used in real elections.

Take a look at our photos from our fun day!

Year 4 Welly Week adventure!

15th October 2018L Tait

Year 4 have had an incredible morning exploring the Quarry and taking in our surroundings by using our five senses to describe.

We were able to describe, sketch and collect samples from the local landscape which we will use later in the week to support our classroom learning.

Everyone worked so hard and had lots of fun whilst doing it!

Check out our photos!
