What access to technology do children have in school?
At Toner Avenue, we have a variety of devices that children are able to use. These include iPads, Chromebooks, laptops and PCs. These devices are used in Computing lessons to learn the skills needed to become digitally literate but also across the curriculum to enhance all subjects. Some examples include using Google Maps to compare locations in Geography, using internet research to find factual information in English and taking photographs to record investigations in Science. Devices are also used for Reading Plus sessions daily.
In every class, an explicit online safety lesson is taught at the beginning of each half term. Children are reminded of the rules for staying safe online whenever they use school devices. We use anti-virus and anti-malware software in school. We also use monitoring software to track use online in school.
