This morning the bakers went off to the far corners of Toner Avenue Primary School in search of blackberries! We searched the four corners of the junior yard looking for our treasure! We filled our baskets and set off to find the next item on our list! Apples, lots and lots of juicy apples from the trees in our garden!
The intrepid bakers arrived back into the classroom where the apples were cut and the blackberries washed!
Sugar was added and the mixture stirred. We poured the mixture in a dish and added a layer of porridge oats and finally another coating of sugar!
We looked at the clock so we could see how long it would take to cook! 1 hour seems like a lifetime!!
At last after an afternoon of learning and fun the bake was ready!!
We added some custard and we all had some, it was delicious and not a soggy bottom in sight!!!
I wonder who the Star Baker was?????

If you would like to try this at home you will need:
Some blackberries,
Some apple,
Brown sugar
loose porridge oats.

Peel and chop up the apples into small chunks and mix with the blackberries, add a little of the brown sugar to sweeten. Transfer into an oven proof dish and cover with a layer of the porridge oats, making sure that all of the fruit is covered. Next sprinkle a dusting of the brown sugar and pop it into the oven on a low heat for about an hour! Serve with custard!!

Have fun!
