Below is a copy of a letter you will receive this week regarding opening in September.
As you are aware, in September the children will return to the new school building which is nearing completion.
In order to ensure a smooth transition into the new building there are a few points that we need to make you aware of:
- The Johnston Avenue entrance will not be available to use
- The only entrance for pupils will be through the existing gate on Beresford Avenue – there will be a footpath to the building.
- We aim to keep start times and pick up times the same.
- In order to assess how the building can be used we are having a staggered start to the new year. See the table below:

- Years 1,3 and 5 will be in school on Thursday 5th September and will have lunch as normal. Years 1,3 and 5 will not attend school on Friday 6th September .
- Years 2, 4 and 6 will not attend school on Thursday 5th September, but will be in school all day on Friday 6th
Although this is not ideal, we need to ensure that the children can be shown around the new building and learn their routes safely. We appreciate your cooperation in this transition period.
The demolition of the existing buildings and subsequent landscaping will take approximately one year. Traffic will be very congested around Beresford Avenue so if you can walk to school I would strongly advise this! We are currently formulating a travel plan and looking at ways to safely escort children to school in the morning from a neutral starting point.
School will close for children on Tuesday 16th July, this is earlier than most other schools.
