Information for Y6 Parents

19th March 2020A Feeney

Dear Parents/Carers,

As many of you will be aware, schools are due to be closing on Friday afternoon & the children will not be sitting their SATs this summer term. As children do, they have many questions that unfortunately, I just do not have the answers to at this current time.

Myself, Miss Bainbridge & Mrs Mcbarron could not be more proud of each and everyone of our Y6 children, we have been fortunate enough to spend 2 years teaching this fantastic year group and we are bursting with pride at how far they have come- not only academically but socially and emotionally, they truly have been a joy for us to teach. We hope to see you all, happy and healthy, very soon. In the meantime, school work will soon be uploaded into our Google Classroom & keep an eye on the school website for regular updates.

For those who have not yet received a log in for Google Classroom, please follow the following instructions:

-Go onto the school website and in the top right had corner click ‘Login’

-Usernames take the format of your child’s first name followed by the first initial of their first name (all lower case)

Example: joeb

And the universal password is: password, children will be asked to change this when they log on.

-Along the bar at the top, select the Google Classroom icon (the green image with the outline of people) and enter the following codes, dependent on whose class you are in:

Miss Feeney’s class: u64tamu

Miss Bainbridge’s class: 4mjg5px

(Please join your CLASS not your set)

Inside the Google Classroom you will start to find folders of work across the curriculum areas & children will be able to communicate with teaching staff should they have any issues.

Thank you for your continued support at this trying time & most importantly stay safe.

All the best,

Miss Feeney & the Y6 Team

Booky Breakfast

8th March 2019s cox

This is a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended and helped with our Booky Breakfast this morning.

We were really pleasantly surprised by such a huge turnout so thanks for your patience in the breakfast queue! I hope you enjoyed talking about stories or listening to stories with the staff as well as having breakfast together.

We’ve raised over £110 with a few more donations coming in. This is fantastic and really appreciated by all of the staff and children here at Toner. (I’ve already had book requests from some keen teachers!) We are going to spend the money on books to replenish and update our stocks at school.

Also a huge thanks to the staff at Toner who always help me out when I have big ideas! #TeamToner!

The potato winners will be revealed in assembly tomorrow! We will update you with those tomorrow.

Thanks again, we really appreciate your continued help and support.

Miss Cox 🙂

Topic Projects!

19th October 2018H Teacher

Wow!  What an amazing response to the end of topic projects!  I have never seen a hall so filled with awed adults!  Thank you all for coming and for the kind words about the event, the staff, children and yourselves have worked really hard this term and it was an excellent way to show it off!

Once the parents left the children have had a chance to visit the hall and the buzz of excitement returned!

I am so proud of all of our children and the support that they have received at home.  Well done to you all!

See if you can spot yourself looking impressed in the photos!

M. Arthur

Y2 Fire Safety

By s cox2nd November 2016

We were very lucky in Y2 to have a visit from the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

We learned about things in our homes that could be dangerous.

We then learned how to check if a fire alarm was working. (You press the button with a long broom stick)

A film showed us how to escape safely, if there was a fire in our home.

Then everyone had a chance to dress in fire fighters clothes.

We learned to crawl on the floor because the smoke rises above you.

Lilly

I learned not to keep the charger in the phone when you are asleep.

Grace

I learned to shout FIRE FIRE!

Georgina

I learned that the fire fighter jacket is made out of Kevlar.

Shaun

We learned that after the great fire of London, the King wanted people to put out fires.

Alesha

I learned that when the fire alarm goes off, you go straight out of the house and never go back in.

Olivia

As you can see, we learned lots from the session!

If any parents would like free fire alarms installed, please call

08000327777

or

www.twfire.gov.uk and follow the links.

Meet ‘n’ Greets

By H Teacher8th September 2016

Next week you will have the opportunity to come into your child’s class and meet their new teachers.  This is a great chance to hear about what your children will be learning about and studying over the course of the year and to get a chance to meet the staff that will be working closely with your children.

All Meet and Greets start at 2.45pm and will last for half an hour to allow us to get all of the children out on time!

Parents with children in the infant building will be let in at the main infant door, the Junior building parents should come to the main entrance.

I am looking forward to meeting you all too.

M.Arthur
