Toner Tigers played their first games of the season last night in the Gidney B league at Hebburn Comprehension. After each fixture Harry will select a player to write the match report.
Here are the first 2 reports:
Toner Avenue vs St Oswalds Hebburn
Toner Avenue competed in their first game in the league. We won 5-0, Connor scoring 4 goals and Owen R 1. I hope Toner can keep that performance up and win the league.
Well done Lads
Toner Avenue vs St Matthews
2nd game of the night.
Toner kicked off with some good passing from the boys. Toner scored their first goal and went 1-0 up. The boys continued to play and pass really well and the first half ended 7-0 to Toner.
2nd Half – St Matthews kicked off but I think their heads went down after the first half and the pouring rain didn’t help at all. Toner continued some good passes and went on to win the game, even after Michael’s (Our Goalkeeper) many efforts to score a goal. The final score was 10 – 0 to Toner.

Well done to the 18 boys and girls across both year 5 classes who competed in the Athletics Festival. Not only did you compete against 7 other schools but we also came joint second place in total points and fourth overall.
An excellent morning had by all, it was such a pleasure to see you all supporting one another and being excellent team players. We were definitely first place for team spirit!

Big jump from Ewan.

‘On Monday, Holly and I went to the Town Hall to represent our School Council. We talked about Staryland needing a new leader. It was lots of fun!’ Joe (Year 3)
Both children were a credit to the School as they took part in an interesting workshop about the imaginary, magical place called Staryland. In the workshop, Staryland, was in need of a new leader.
The workshop gave Holly and Joe:
- An understanding of democracy and the election process.
- The experience of participating in an election – includes; hustings from candidates, casting their vote in the same way as an ‘adult election’, and through their vote being able to influence the election outcome.
- A demonstration of the election process and outcome
- Lots of fun!
Holly and Joe have used the knowledge they obtained to help the rest of the School Council prepare for our Committee elections.
Please see attached link to article published on STC website covering the event.
Year 5 pupils got a shock this Monday morning when they found the entrance to their classrooms transformed into a crime scene!
We were able to act as crime scene investigators to make notes, photograph and bag up evidence from the scene.
Despite our best efforts, we are currently not able to confirm the species of Dragon though we have had plenty of fun trying!
We’re hoping to write some brilliant newspaper reports on the scene later this week.
Watch this space as year 5 are budding journalists and can’t wait to give you the latest scoop!
Is that evidence on the floor?
Kieran is not impressed with his find!
Cory has an exciting discovery.
Marcus takes a “hands on” approach.
Detective Jack getting a “feel” for his writing.
Not one bit of evidence left out.
Capturing every angle.
It’s hard work being a detective…
What an exciting day for Toner Avenue year 5 pupils!
